All About Jace
And What Inspired Me To Get Into Theatre
My love for theatre and music started at an incredibly young age. Thanks to my parents, I was exposed to all types of music, and quickly fell in love with every movie-musical and variety revue show I was exposed to. I was fascinated with big band setups, dance performances, and people making beautiful music with just their voices. One day, my parents brought home the soundtrack to the musical Jersey Boys. My mom would listen to it in the car, and I got hooked on it! I fell in love with the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and the storytelling elements I heard on this soundtrack. Four years later, on my ninth birthday, I began seeing musicals with my parents. I can say for sure that I was the youngest person in the audience at the production of Jersey Boys that we saw, and that experience has shaped who I am today. I loved performing and appeared in musicals and plays for a decade of my life. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit during my senior year of high school, I realized how unhappy I was while training to audition for collegiate musical theatre programs. I had been assistant directing the musicals at my local middle school for three years at that point and realized my true passion was in directing. Within the next year, I came out as transgender, started my medical transition, appeared in my last theatrical performance to date, and began the path to becoming a director. In my sophomore year of college, I discovered arts administration and became further invested in figuring out just how the theatre industry works. I'm immensely proud of who I am and the work I've completed, and I can't wait to share the work I've created with the world!

CANCELED Upcoming Directing Project: The Affair Plays with Trash Rats Theatre Co
Intended to premiere in March of 2024, I was the intended director for The Affair Plays by Hayley St. James in collaboration with Trash Rats Theatre Collective. These plays have been recently published, and this was supposed to be the first fully staged production of these touching shows. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel this project. Please click the eye icon above to check out the Facebook page for Trash Rats, which will be the most up-to-date source of information on the cancellation of the project, and how we will be proceeding.
Undergraduate Capstone Project
For my senior capstone project, I will be completing a research project on how medical transition affects transgender performers in multiple areas. The project will also explore equity for transgender performers in the theatre and why we don't see many trans performers.
